RCA got 3rd position in SCC National T20 Championship
Riyadh Cricket Association (RCA) team visited Jeddah and Yanbu recently to play the super six, semi final and third position matches of the SCC National T20 Championship. Super Six and Semi Finals were played at WPCA Grounds in Jeddah while the Third Position match was played in Yanbu.
In the first super six match, RCA beat JCA by 77 runs. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, RCA piled a huge total of 241/7 in the stipulated 18 overs. Abdul Wahid continued his good form with the bat and scored 91 of 35 balls. He was ably supported by Nadeem Babar and Wahab Khan who scored 52 each. Nasir Abbasi and Kamran Hadi also played well and scored 14 each. For JCA, Qudous took 2 wickets. Chasing a huge target, JCA could only score 164/7 in 18 overs. Irfan was the highest scorer with 52 runs. RCA bowlers bowled with great line and length and did not allow the JCA batsmen to score freely. Abdul Salam was the pick of the bowlers who took 3 wickets. Waleed Sheikh, who is a Saudi player, took 2 wickets. Kamran Hadi and Muzaffar Majeed also bowled well and took 1 wicket each. Abdul Wahid was declared Man of the Match.
In the second super six match, RCA beat MCL by 4 wickets. MCL batted first and scored 172/7 in 18 overs. Sajid and Younis played well and scored 78 and 41 runs respectively. Abdul Wahid bowled with great pace and control and took 4 wickets while Nadeem Babar, Wahab Khan and Ali Shahid got 1 wicket each. Chasing the target, RCA started well with opener Nasir Abbasi scoring quick 38 of 16 balls. After that RCA lost some quick wickets but Nadeem Babar and Abdul Qadir played with responsibility and took RCA to victory. Abdul Qadir remained unbeaten on 52 and Nadeem Babar on 25. Omar Sohail took 3 wickets for MCL. Abdul Qadir was declared Man of the Match.
In the semi final, YACA beat RCA by 3 wickets in a closely contested match. Batting first, RCA managed 162/7 in 20 overs. RCA lost some quick wickets early on, but Omar Zafar and Kamran Hadi stayed at the wicket for some time and stabilized the RCA innings by scoring 42 and 73 runs respectively. Abdul Qadir also played well in the end and scored 16 runs. Nadeem Saad took 3 wickets. Chasing the target of 163, YACA also started disastrously as they lost some quick early wickets but a great knock by Afzal, who scored 68 and remained unbeaten, helped YACA achieving the target in 19.2 overs. Waqas and Kamran Hadi got 2 wickets each for RCA. Nadeem Babar and Abdul Salam also chipped in with 1 wicket each. Afzal of YACA was declared Man of the Match.
In the third position match, RCA beat JCA by 7 wickets. JCA won the toss and elected to field first. RCA bowlers restricted JCA to 125/9 in 20 overs. Nadeem Babar bowled excellently and took 3 wickets. Kamran Hadi, Muzaffar Majeed, Abdul Wahid and Zeeshan Haider also took 1 wicket each. Two JCA batsmen were run out. RCA achieved the target in 12.3 overs thanks to a great opening partnership of 90 between Nadeem Babar and Abdul Wahid. Nadeem Babar scored 57 and Abdul Wahid 43. Muzaffar Majeed remained unbeaten on 16. Atif got 2 wickets for JCA. Nadeem Babar was declared Man of the Match.
Prize Distribution Ceremony was held in Yanbu where Shahid Afridi was the Chief Guest. Iqbal Sikander member of the winningPakistanteam of World Cup 1992 was the guest of honor. RCA Captain Nadeem Babar received the third position trophy from Shahid Afridi.
